How the index works
The index weights each item by price and caps any one item at between 2.5% and 7.5% of the basket, depending on how many items it holds, so no single item can dominate it. The basket is rebuilt every Monday, leaving out items too illiquid to price, and the level follows the price changes of the items in it on BUFF, Youpin, CSFloat and Steam. Levels are points, not dollars. The latest daily reading priced 42 of the 42 items in the basket. The item prices the Cases Index is built from are available from the CS2 price history API.
